Adam Cybanski teaches on short aviation courses at the University of Southern California four times a year. One of the classes he teaches is Data for Safety Management. The objective of the course is to provide first-hand experience in the collection and analysis of safety critical flight data to create an understanding of the basics of Flight Data Analysis, how Flight Data Analysis contributes to a SMS, and how Flight Data Analysis can result in positive improvements in aviation safety performance.

As part of the course, students equip foam gliders with digital data recorders, then carry out flight testing to capture real flight data. This data is subsequently analyzed in class. For more information, go to https://aviationsafety.usc.edu/courses/data-safety-management/.
